Beaches, Dolphins, & Wine: The Best Moments of Summer 2018

The school year has started and summer is on the way out. I guess you could say memories of getting school supplies or moving back to campus used to overwhelm me. School is officially out for me as a post-grad! I see that there are great things to look forward to– Fall shows are starting up and Fall fashion is already making a comeback, to say the least. But, before I usher in the Fall, I want to look back on some of the best moments of my summer. I hope that in writing this post you will look back on the high points too and even try to keep those moments going throughout the year. I for one am definitely trying to make summertime-chillaxing my everyday vibe.

Whale More Like Dolphin Watching

One of the first outings I experienced this summer was a little whale watching excursion in Newport Beach. I was adamant about seeing these whales since it was around their migration season. Yet, it seems we just missed them since I only got to see one whale. But, the most exhilarating and pure joy-filled moment was seeing a humongous pod of dolphins. They were migrating as well, adults and the youth. It was such a lovely moment because of how much they engaged with us. I’ve seen dolphins before while kayaking and other whale watching trips in the past. Yet, I never saw so many. They swam all around us, jumping out of their deep blue world to get a peek at us and, of course, everyone on the boat was losing their shit. Dolphins really are such incredible beings!

Santa Barbara Wining

I went up to Cali’s wine hot-spot for a day trip and it was practically magical. If you want a quick escapade somewhere I suggest Santa Barabara. The beach is beautiful, the town is quaint, and you can get wine-drunk or tipsy if you so choose. Santa Barabara has a whole street…. dedicated to wine-tastings and boutique shopping. I went to Riverbench tasting room and the wines and awesome/knowledgeable sommelier did not disappoint. The spot is located off of Anacapa Street in Santa Barabara’s “Funk Zone” where there are many galleries, breweries, and shops. The tasting only cost $15 per person and I got to try their various selections of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. So I recommend Riverbench as a go-to spot.

Poolside Chilling

I recently went to New Orleans and there’s no doubt I enjoyed myself. I wrote a whole blog post about walking the French Quater, hearing live music — all that good stuff. Yet, it was also great to just chill by the pool and do some swimming. If you don’t already know, or just haven’t experienced it yet, Louisiana is hot. Some days sitting by the pool was like being plugged into a charging pad. I was totally refreshed. Plus, I was able to sport my tropical-summer-lovely swimsuits.

I must truly be a water-sign because every one of these snap-shots took place around a body of water. These moments were some of my summer highlights! I write “some” because this blog started this summer 2018 and the events that I have gone to, the art shows and movies I saw–everything that I have written for my blog has captured my favorite moments of the summer. Also, I’m so grateful for meeting and hanging out with such amazing people this summer. If you liked this post, drop a comment. Also, share some of your favorite summer moments.
